SAFFORD — It’s time to break out the paints and markers for the annual library kid art contest.
The third Safford-City Graham County Library Children’s Art Contest is taking place, and the contest theme this year coincides with the summer reading program theme, “A Universe of Stories.”
The competition is for children aged 12 and under, with one entry per child. The last entry is due by June 26. All entries must be ready to hang.
“I just love seeing the creativity of the children. It’s an extension of the art displays we do featuring local artists who are typically adult artists,” said Leslie Talley, Safford Library Science City program coordinator.
“So it’s just a really fun way to let the kids express themselves through art and for us to have the enjoyment of seeing their creativity. The goal of the kids art competition is twofold. The library loves to celebrate the artistic talent of our patrons of all ages. We also want to encourage kids to keep their brains active and engaged over the summer; art is one of the many ways to do that.”
All of the entries will be shown in the library after the judging, and winners will be awarded ribbons.
