SAFFORD — Jenny Griffin is the youngest stand-alone artist to have her art hosted by the Safford City-Graham County Public Library.
“I’ve been drawing and creating art ever since I can remember. I love being able to create whatever I want and make gifts for people I care about,” Griffin said. “I’m interested in animation as well as a lot of other types of mediums. I would like to continue studying in college and see where that takes me.”
Griffin, 16, won the People’s Choice award for the past three years for her art in competitions hosted by the Eastern Arizona Art Guild annual youth show. She also won the Best of Show award in the 2017 youth show put on by the guild.
This year, she has won a special recognition award by the Gila River Arts Council for the most outstanding body of work from a youth artist.
Several of her pieces are for sale, and her mediums of choice are watercolor, oil as well as pastel pencil.
“I told her that when she makes it big in the world out there, we can say that we showed her work first,” said Safford Library program coordinator Leslie Talley.
Griffin’s artwork is on display at the library until June 3.
