Fire destroyed a Safford mobile home Monday where a transient apparently had been living, according to a fire official.

The blaze broke out about 3:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Ninth Street and was contained to the home.

The home, valued at about $5,000, was destroyed, Safford Fire Chief Clark Bingham said.

A transient had been living there, he said.

Nobody was injured and Bingham said he is unsure of a cause.
