Pima girls basketball

Pima took gold in the Round Valley tournament last weekend.

ROUND VALLEY — Pima faced a series of five teams over two days last weekend and beat every one at the Round Valley Summer Hoops Tournament.

The Lady Roughriders beat Desert Christian, Quemado and Round Valley varsity teams on Friday, and then beat St. Michaels — which was reported to be the toughest team — and Round Valley JV on Saturday, giving Pima a 5-0 record.

When asked what he believed made the difference to get all those wins, head coach Roy Corona said, “Honestly, I think our defense and how hard the girls played and fought in each game made the difference.”
