THATCHER — Fifty-one teams enjoyed healthy rounds of round robin and battled it out in the brackets during the Pioneer Days Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.

Four and a half hours and two volleyball teams over two pools later, and two teams emerged victorious.

The Pool A team clinched a decisive 21-9 victory with a mix of strong attacks and well-placed serves.

Pool A’s BJ Hiapo said, “This is our third time winning. We kind of switched up everything, but we stayed together as a family. We come every year, and it’s always a great event. Everything’s run real smoothly and really well, and it’s a good time for our family to come here every year.”

The volleyball tournament starts off with roughly three hours of round robin, where everyone gets to play every team at least once.
